Leaving Poems

Welcome to Leaving Poems
Life never leaves you empty
It always replaces
Everything you lost
If it asks you to put
Something down,
It’s because
It wants you to
Pick up something better.

Excuse me, then! you know my heart;
But dearest friends, alas! must part.
John Gay

Farewell, my sister, fare thee well.
The elements be kind to thee, and make
Thy spirits all of comfort: fare thee well.
William Shakespeare

Where'er I roam, whatever realms to see,
My heart untravelled, fondly turns to thee;
Still to my brother turns, with ceaseless pain,
And drags at each remove a lengthening chain.
Oliver Goldsmith,
The Traveller

This goodbye was never meant to be
But life has gone and changed
I cannot stay with you now my love
From this day forward we're estranged.

❤ ❤

May brooks and trees and singing hills
Join in the chorus too,
And every gentle wind that blows
Send happiness to you.

Some people come into our lives and leave footprints on our hearts and we are never ever the same. Flavia Weedn

Leaving Poems

You and I will meet again,
When we're least expecting it,
One day in some far off place,
I will recognize your face,
I won't say goodbye my friend,
For you and I will meet again.
Tom Petty

Nobody said it was easy;
it's such a shame for us to part.
Nobody said it was easy...
no one ever said it would be this hard.

Absence diminishes little passions and increases great ones, as the wind extinguishes candles and fans a fire.
Francois Duc de la Rochefoucauld

And what if I never kiss your lips again
Or feel the touch of your sweet embrace
How would I ever go on
Without you there's no place to belong

❤ ❤

I can't bear the miles
That are keeping us apart
The pain that runs through me
Is breaking my heart.

I miss your closeness
Your holding me tight;
I'm wishing you back here
With all of my might.

Leaving Poems

Everytime I look at your photo
I miss you, kiss you, look deep into your eyes;
I yearn to hold you close to me
There's nothing I'd rather and that's no surprise.

❤ ❤

I wish you didn't have to go
I'm missing you already
I know it hasn't been that long
Since we started going steady.

You'll be back home on your vacations
We will have to wait till then
Love letters will suffice
Old fashioned paper and pen.

❤ ❤

I woke up this morning
Thinking that you were still around
But I was only dreaming
You're nowhere to be found.

I looked over at your pillow
To see this empty space
You were my reason for living
Now there's just this vacant place.

My heart feels cold and empty
Except when I'm thinking about you
I hold you in my arms again
I kiss you once again too.

The memories of our love
Are so strong in my heart
My memories are now my reason
And inside we will never part.

When heaven calls me
I'll be there in a jot
I will have missed you forever
I will be there on the dot!

Leaving Poems

I miss the sunshine and the skies
A heavenly shade of blue;
It hasn't stopped raining since I came
And got here without you.

❤ ❤

The entwining of our souls
Took part without me knowing;
I didn't have an inkling
Until I heard you going.

I rushed out afterwards
Already a bit too late;
Hoping I could catch you
At the city gates.

You went without ever knowing
Just what you mean to me;
So please return from service
In one piece and safely.

❤ ❤

Under the silver moon above
We can look and feel each other;
Thousands of miles in between
Our souls with kisses we can smother.

So close yet so far &
Missing you like hell;
Can't wait for my term to end
So wedding bells can knell.

No doom for us the bells will ring
To tell everyone of our friends;
That this blind date they set for us
Is one that never ends

Leaving Poems

At last some time for pleasure trips

The ones you've always wanted

The time to just take your time

New schedules all undaunted.

Those plan A's and B's

Coming down of that dusty shelf

it's your time now just for you

To do things for your self.

❤ ❤

Congratulations on your well deserved retirement,

Wishing you every happiness in the years ahead.

No lying about your age, more lying around the house

After lying much longer in bed

As a chapter closes in your life,

And a new one starts for you,

May your years be filled with all the things

You've been looking forward to!

It is time to step aside

For a less experienced and less able man

It is time to do nothing

Because you can

It's No Job, No Stress, No Pay

It's goodbye tension...hello pension;

It's spending your kids inheritance

It's when work never gets a mention.

Take life with a pinch of salt

A shot of tequila and a wedge of lime;

Do nothing at all

But take your time

All the meaning has gone out of weekends

Now you have a Life;

With half the money

And twice the wife

Have a terrific retirement

You earned it!

You came into my life, now you're leaving
Which is a terrible shame
You've left a footprint on my heart
I'll never be the same.
All the very best

A goodbye isn't full of pain
Unless you're never going to meet again

May you have warm words on a cold evening,
A full moon on a dark night,
And the road downhill all the way to your door.
